Imperial O-Rings

The O-Ring range is vast, starting from BS001 (0.029ins bore, 0.040 cross section) right through to BS475, (25.94 ins bore, 0.275 cross section).Available in nitrile, viton, EPDM, silicone, food quality nitrile, PTFE and even encapsulated. Encapsulated are normally made from silicone or viton, and have a seamless  FEP coating wich can help in chen=mical and extreme conditions.

As well as the British standard range, we also stock sizes from the German/Swedish European range of sizes. PTFE back up rings can also be sourced to suit most O-Ring sizes. To add to the already massive range of O-Rings stocked, a range of O-Ring cord is available with suitable adhesives for joining. Where the O-Ring is of a very large diameter, a scarf jointing/vulcanising service can be utilised.

X-Rings (Four point contact seals)

Based around similar sizes to British Standard O-Rings, these are particularly useful in high dynamic applications or low friction applications, as they create lower friction than conventional O-Rings.

Materials include:

  • FEP Encapsulated = Its temperature range is -20°C to +204°C, An encapsulated O-ring comprises an elastomer energising centre, which has a seamless jacket made from fluoropolymer.
  • EPDM = This has very good resistance to weathering, o-zone, water and steam. Also it has low and high temperature capability, which is excellent, having good resistance to set with good elasticity.
  • High Nitrile (75°/90° Shore) =
  • Neoprene = This has outstanding resistance to weathering and ageing, this makes neoprene good for outdoor applications, also its high and low temperatures are good and its elasticity and scratch resistance is of good standard.
  • Nitrile Rubber = this is split into 3 categories - high, medium and low nitrile, this all depends on the proportion of acrylonitrile in the polymer. The substance can vary, 18% - 45% approx. this affects the properties; acrylonitrile is the oil resistant component of the copolymer.
  • PTFE = The temperature range is from -195°c - +250°c, P.T.F.E. is an extremely inert material and is untouched by practically every known chemical together with nearly all acids, alkalis and solvents. These properties make it an ideal substance for O-ring Back up Rings. Its cold flow properties under constant strain are generally a disadvantage in P.T.F.E. O-Rings; for example, it has to small a memory to go back to its original shape.
  • Silicone (Red/White/Black) = Its temperature range is from -65°C to +250°c, Silicone has unfortunate tensile strength, tear and scratch resistance, however it has brilliant resistance to extreme temperatures. Its retention of characteristics at high temperatures is superior to other elastic materials.
  • Viton = This is good for high temperatures and has excellent resistance against hydraulic oils, petrol and many other chemicals, as well as weathering and o-zone conditions.
  • WRC Approved Materia = Water potable approved.
