Development of PLASTIC BEARING HOUSINGS resulted from a strong demand for non-corrodible bearing units for machinery in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
The precision moulded plastic housings are made to close tolerances from high grade glass fibre filled thermoplastic material. The housings are tough, wear and shock resistant and resist most alkaline, low acid (pH 4-9) and salt solutions.
Unlike conventional cast iron housings their smooth surface is easily cleaned, and they will not corrode or promote the growth of micro-organisms: there is no coating to chip or scratch. The 420 thermoplastic polyester used is characterised by its excellent resistance to a variety of chemicals, including aliphatic hydrocarbons, gasoline, oils and fats, alcohols, glycols, ethers, high molecular weight ethers and ketones, dilute acids and bases, detergents and most aqueous salt solutions.

The plastic Bearing Housings are interchangeable with most standard cast iron units and bearings are assembled in the housings by means of a loading slot allowing easy removal or exchange if required.
The surface of the housings is smooth and easily kept clean and the standard colour is green. The above features make these Bearing Units especially suitable for use in equipment and conveyors in food and meat processing plants, canneries, dairies, bottling plants, breweries, chemical, pharmaceutical and many other industries.
Stainless steel bearings are fitted as standard, but housings only can be supplied. Other bearing options are standard 100Cr6 steel and plain plastic bearing inserts. End covers are supplied as standard.
